Taxicab Rates: The District of Columbia taxicabs use time & distance meters to compute cab fares. Use the Rates link to see the current metered fare rates and extras like additional passengers, luggage and radio call.
Shared Ride: Shared Ride can be done at Union Station, Verizon Center and Nationals Ballpark under the supervision of a dispatcher. Under Shared Ride each passenger will pay the metered fare displayed before departing the taxicab.
Group Ride: Group Ride was redefined as a group of passengers from the same pickup location going to different destinations who are willing to share the taxicab ride. The driver will start the meter at the beginning and stop it at end of each leg of the trip. The departing passengers at each leg will pay the fare amount and extras displayed on the meter. The additional passenger charge of $1.00 is in effect for multiple passengers travelling in a minivan or SUV departing at the same destination.
Looking for More Dispatch Drivers: YCDC is looking for more computer-dispatched cab drivers to meet the growing business and public demand. YCDC's automated computer dispatch system uses GPS and a combination of zonal and closet cab dispatch methods to quickly dispatch the nearest cab to the customers. Stop "bumping the curb" and join the growing numbers of computer-dispatched taxicab drivers. The demand for more dispatched taxicabs in the District is steadily growing.
